10 More Pounds

Anybody else out there having a tough time losing 10 pounds? That's all I want, lose 10 more pounds and I will be at my goal that I set for the end of the summer! So I decided for some motivation, I will watch the new season of The Biggest Loser on Hulu, up my cardio workout in the gym, and see if the weight watchers points plan might work. I was really excited when I found out that it is possible to calculate how many points I am allowed per day. I was even more excited when I found out that a Mcdouble Bacon Cheeseburger from Mcdonalds is worth 7 points. I love that burger! (lol, I saw your face when you said "eww.") But here's the other thing I took note of. Even though that burger is allowed in the weight watchers point system, it's not neccesarily good for me. All of the fat grams, sodium, calories, and carbs, still affect my body. This reminded me of a principle that comes righ out of the Bible -

1 Corinthians 10:23 - "Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not everything is constructive."

So, I guess I'll have to change to eating those Olive Garden Breadsticks! (O come on... I'm JOKING!)

For me, I have learned that it's not about points, it's not even about calories... but I have to eat healthy for the right reasons. To look good in that cute shirt or bathing suit isn't what works for me. I am only able to lose weight when I remind myself that I will be more effective for the Kingdom if I'm healthy. I will live longer for my children and I will be able to follow God's calling on my life more aggresively if I am healthier. I have much more than 10 lbs to go, but I have learned that it's a life change, not a fad change. And if I want to be able to truly fulfill God's call on my life, then I need to be much healthier. And it helps that I have two little lives that I'm setting an example for.

Brother try swimming I know its not the right time of season depending on where your out, but swimming burns 3 times more calories than most cardio machines and a plus it tones your body at the same time!
