30 Days To Live

This weekend I have been thinking "What If I Found Out I Had 30 Days To Live?" Powerful thought isn't it? I think there would be some changes I would make. For instance, if I had 30 days to live I would most likely spend a whole lot more time with my family istead of using phrases like; "yes, let's do that in a little while," or "I'll be able to play with you in a little bit." If I had 30 days to live I would spend longer nights talking with my wife at night before I go to bed, and maybe even watch her as she sleeps. If I had 30 days to live I would most likely say no to some things that are a waste of time. All in all, I look at this concept and I am hit by the thought that we spend alot of time doing things we really don't need to do, and we miss out on the good things in life. What if you had 30 days to live? Would there be any changes you make?

I would stop worrying so much and just enjoy the moment and God's creation.

How do you really put yourself in that frame of mind? Stephen Covey wrote a chapter in one of his books entitled "Begin with the end in mind"; think about who would speak at your funeral and what would they say. What would you want them to say and then live up to that; write what you want said and live that way. Go ahead and start planning your funeral now and save your family the stress.

You don't know me, but I stumbled upon your blog and just had to drop you my thoughts on this post... I'm on youth staff at our church and we've been answering some really tough questions lately with the kids. I was raised with two amazing and Godly parents. And we were taught (which is biblical actually) to live like today is our last day. Live like there is no tomorrow. So I find myself evaluating my daily life quite often and I ask myself, "if I were to die today, would the choices I'm currently making allow me access to Heaven?" Sometimes I can honestly say no, but that is when I take a step forward into what I need to do in order to make God proud. It's not about the earthly acceptance like it was back in high school or whenever. I am a single mother of two kids whose father is not a Christian... I have to set an example for them daily because I need it to sink in for them.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts! God bless, and may you find the answers you need on your journey.
